Salvaje Brewing Co. is a small craft brewery located in the Longhouse in Salvage, Newfoundland. The Salvaje project began in 2019 with the redevelopment of the community's former fish plant. After several years of construction and a few delays along the way, the Longhouse officially opened its doors on September 24, 2025.
The idea behind the brewery was about more than making good beer. When the fish plant closed in 2013, Salvage lost a major source of employment and a building that had long been an important part of the community. The Longhouse project was created in part to bring activity back to the building and give both locals and visitors another reason to spend time in Salvage.
Even our name has a connection to the community. Salvaje comes from an early spelling of Salvage, giving the brewery a name rooted in the place where our beer is made.
Our current lineup includes ales, a lager, a pilsner, and an IPA, with each beer carrying a name or story inspired by Newfoundland and the places around us.
Little Denier Light
Light Lager | 4.2% ABV
A crisp, clear and easy-drinking light lager. Little Denier Light takes its name from the lighthouse on nearby island, Little Denier, which has stood as a beacon of safe harbour since 1888. Available on tap, in 473 mL cans and for growler fills.
What the Ale
White Ale | 5% ABV
A smooth, easy-drinking white ale with a soft mouthfeel and subtle sweetness on the finish. Available on tap, in 473 mL cans and for growler fills.
Targa Pedal to the Medal
Pilsner | 4.8% ABV
A crisp, clean and refreshing pilsner inspired by Targa Newfoundland, North America's tarmac rally that brings drivers and spectators through communities across the province. Available on tap, in 473 mL cans and for growler fills.
Damnable Ale
Amber Ale | 5% ABV
A refreshing amber ale named for the nearby Damnable Trail network. A fitting choice after a day spent hiking and exploring the Eastport Peninsula. Available on tap, in 473 mL cans and for growler fills.
Beach Day IPA
IPA | 5.1% ABV
A juicy, tropical IPA with bright citrus character, inspired by those rare Newfoundland summer days when it's warm enough to convince yourself a swim in the North Atlantic might actually be a good idea. It has the feeling of a tropical getaway, without the eight-hour flight — and with considerably colder water. Available on tap, in 473 mL cans and for growler fills.
